Consensus on adding transmission fluid to each oil change when you're over 160K?

For the last 6 months now I have noticed this hollow tapping sound that seem to be on the passenger side of the motor. I have been told by several ppl that it may be valve lifter taps.
It the revs increase so does the tapping until it almost disappears at like 5grand.
Is it safe to run about a pint of transmission fluid for 5mins, and let it set before changing the oil? I heard that some car engines have internal wires that will be eaten buy the corrosives in the transmission fluid.
I don't believe 3gens fall into this category?
I know thaI Gerdo swaers by it, and glen was the one who provided me the info... so I think he knows what he's talking about.
What is y'alls consensus?

If you're doing it to clean the engine of build up, why wouldn't you go with something intended for the purpose like Seafoam or Amsoil's engine flush? At least with those they are specifically created to remove build up in small quantities as to not clog oil passages or dissolve important mechanisms...

trans fluid works real well ive used it for a flush on bmw's many times. it wont reverse any wear that is already done but it will do a good job cleaning out the gunk.

I have done it for years on old high mile neglected engines. I put in 1/3 - 1/2 quart (a pint) and will drive it for about 100 miles. It's just a thin oil that is high detergent. I don't do it every change but only when I would start hearing the lifters. My son bought a used Jeep that I'm sure wasn't properly maintained and the lifters would get noisy about every 3rd oil change so I would do the ATF treatment and it would quiet up. I did this for years and had zero issues. I have done it on my 4runner a time or two to keep things clean.

I will not use any type of engine flush. They are almost a pure cleaner. When changing your oil, not all of the oil is drained. I feel that the remaining flush would break down the new oil.

Your know your stuff Gerdo, I think that I will try it on my next change, thx for all the input everyone.

I have to agree with Gerdo for sure.

If you use a product like seafoam, this shouldn't be an issue. It is an oil based product, and has been around forever. It can be added to the oil right after an oil change and left their for the life of the oil.

Ahh gotcha, this is one of those things that I guess synthetic oil would have prevented from happening in the first place.

I've run synthetic since I put the supercharger on, that was back in 1999. So you will still have buildup, it just depends how much dust, dirt, pollen, etc. make it past the air intake.

My pos cone filter(K&N) would always fall off the MAS and sometimes I wouldnt realize it for weeks, or even a month.

The problem has been fixed, I just want that tapping to go away!
