Considering a move to Colorado!??!!

I know what you mean Ducmonsta. I lived in NYC for 5 years before my wife and I moved to CO to start a family. I used to go to the Bay Area for work with my old job and both of those even have a different flavor from each other. NYC can be very fast paced. I don't think the OP would want to move his kids and fiancée there though. It would be a HUGE culture shock for a family from Kentucky. LOL.

Denver is a different kind of city. There's not the diversity of the coastal cities. Hell, in NYC you might stop for a slice of pizza and have someone speaking French on one side of you and Japanese on the other. That's pretty cool.

I do wish CO spent more on Public Education.

Out here you'll find a different history and a different culture. It's experienced at a different pace. That's what makes our country great. Different places have different flavors. We have a sports team in every Major sport. Too bad I'm a KC Chiefs fan. The Broncos are about the only thing that makes it hard for me to live here.

Wait, I mean, Colorado really sucks.

Seriously though, moving a family is tough. Take it from this military brat. Make sure you're doing it for the right reasons and to pursue opportunities for your family. Not just because we have kewl trails.

One other small thing that bugged me in CO. Those stupid stickers people put on their subis and pick ups.

I mean really? I wanted to ask them, "what tribe are YOU from?!"

X2 No way its 2.60. Up here around Steamboat/Craig area its still 3.80.

I've wanted to move to the Denver area for a while now. With my job i've traveled through the area MANY times over the years. Last year alone i was there for almost two months.
I thought the cost of registering a car was a bit high $$$. check that little fact out. The newer the vehicle the higher the cost.
I say go for it..

ejason is right about vehicle registration unfortunately. It is part of a bill our wonderful governor Ritter had passed. It raised vehicle registration significantly in favor of things like road work, road maintenance, trail preservation etc. If in fact that is where the money goes then I'm ok with it, but since I think all politicians are crooked I'm not totally convinced! My 04 only costs 140 a year so its not so bad. Definitely not a deal breaker in my opinion.

thank you guys for all the responses they have really made me think about a few things...i am wanting to move somewhere that is a lil faster paced than where i am now. With better schools and just more things to do with my kids...also need better doctors because my fiancee was just diagnosed with gastroparesis...basically her food isnt digesting properly and the dumbass docs here cant fix it....I also have some medical issues and need to move to a state where i can get medical marijuana...
the trails and all that was a plus for me i really dont get to wheel my 4runner that much lately because my "lil co pilot" is really sick....just hoping can get her better...
Over the past few months living in Ky. hasnt been the best situation for us...i am hoping with a move like this it will be a new beginning and a new way of life all around.
thanks again for your advice and comments...gas is really cheap....there too...its higher in KY ....i payed 2.89 a gallon today in Lexington Ky.

i personally have lived in a few different states, however my fiancee hasnt~! just Indiana and kentucky....she has a hard time driving around in Lexington Ky....so i know she would freak out if she had to drive any where in NYC LOL!!

I was born and raised in KS so perhaps the "slower" way of life has become more appealing to me the older I get in life. Moving from KS to TX offered some differences, especially in the Dallas area. Seems like people here were brought here by their careers (just like I was). They're only invested in their careers and that doesn't seem to transition into investing into the community and their neighbors. The traffic and heat here is a complete beat-down.

I get out to CO every chance I get and plan on moving there for good as soon as I can work it out. I like the pace of life and people in Colorado and can't wait to join them even if "it's full". :biggrin2:

To the OP, I say go for it. CO has some excellent medical offerings and I think it would be a great place for a young family.

Yep. Them damn donkeys. Elway everywhere. :wow: I've got some KC buddies out here and we'll go to the KC/DEN games together and talk ****. It's all in good fun. At least we can agree to hate the Raiders. KC vs. DEN on 12/31 this year….

The medical issue is nice. Although, between having a kid and the nature of my job, it doesn't do me any good these days. A long time ago I would have seen it as an advantage, now it's just another irony tauntingly thrown in my face by fate. Just not conducive to where I am these days. But definitely a plus if you can swing it! I hear good things.
