Coverking vs Wet Okole

Hey guys! Looking at getting some quality seat covers for the rig. Was waiting on the fall Wet Okole group buy but in case it doesn't happen I am looking at alternatives.

Anyone have any experience with Coverking seat covers and even the wet Okoles for the 5th gen specifically?

Same here, no experience with CoverKings but I love my Wet Okeles. I have matching front and back sets. Fitment on the front is a pain in the ass so I recommend taking the seats out to install them unless you want to sound like a sailor while installing them...

I've had the Carhartt Duck Weave seat covers for about 6 months. Coverking makes them but they use the heavier Carhartt fabric. I LOVE them...they fit perfectly and are waterproof.

The issue was lead time...I think they took 4 weeks.
Wait for a coupon and its a great buy if you work in construction or transport dogs around alot.

the wet okale and wetsuit seat covers are hot in the summer and if you ever actually get them wet they get funky if they don't dry well

Had the covering cordura version and I loved them. Waiting on the '18 version to come out. Easy to install and, consequently to remove, should you want to provide your pax with a nice clean seat experience. Definitely recommend them and I will repurchase.

Living in San Diego we hit the ocean all the time. I haven't had the issue of the funk smell post drying on my Wet Okole covers, but maybe since I basically live in a desert I leave them to dry in the sun outside for a few days they get really dry and crispy. So results could vary by region.

Regarding the heat, they can get hot, I suggest window tinting with UV protection at the max. I have the darkest tint possible w/all the extra's for protection and it really keeps the interior a lot cooler. Bonus is the ultimate privacy when sleeping in the back.

I will say they fit like a glove, very easy to take on and off etc.

Hate to hijack your thread OP but I just ordered an 18 ORP and was looking at seat covers as well. My question is how durable is the Softex interior? I’ve got kids and dogs.

I have the softex material as well on my '18 ORP. I use the seat covers for the rear only and the main reason is the dogs nails. The material seems to be very durable but I just don't want scratches.

Have the black/charcoal on my black softex match great, can barely tell there are seat covers on them.

Much cheaper than buying direct from coverking, check around as you may find it even cheaper at times at amazon.
Think they all end up coming dropped shipped from the coverking factory.
In case your not interested in spending the extra for alcantra I can also recommend using coverkings neosupreme. Have used them for years in my other vehicles but when needing new ones again think I'll go with the alcantra next time, they feel great.

I find the softex uncomfortable. I'm thinking about converting them to factory cloth and/or putting wetokoles on.

Did the wetokoles make the seats more comfortable?

Coverking kinda looks horrid, the fit is not good like neoprene. On the other hand wet okole is pretty overpriced...

I had Marathon covers in my old Tacoma, not sure what they have for the 4runner but they were top notch. Not a fan of neoprene, Marathons are heavy duty cordura - plenty water proof, easy to keep clean and durable even with two large dogs jumping in and out.
There is a bit of a lead time, but they are hand made to order and seriously top quality.

I have both, in 2 different 4runners.

Coverking - a bit cheaper, order via costco great fit, not as many options like heated, pockets, colors, different pipping etc. Pretty quick to ship.

Wet Okole - expensive, loads of options, lots of colors. Includes a free center console cover.

Fit and finish on both is comparable. Coverkings wear out faster. The material is basically the same, not quite as thick but close, but the 4Runner I drive the least has the Coverkings and the material is wearing and changing color, going from gray to black, while the Wet Okoles are unchanged. Same color now as the day I bought them (minus the dirt) Only thing is the iron on logos have worn off. But that's no different than any iron on product, they just wear off eventually.

I will go with Wet Okoles when I finally have to replace the Coverkings. I doubt I will ever have to replace the Wet Okoles.........

PS. I live in Oregon, both of these get wet all the time, no issues drying, staining or smelling.
