holy crap......hope the passengers lived through that okay. some of the pictures look altered though.....like the one with the deer's liver (i think) in the back seat.
 
Wow! I can't believe how much blood ended up all the way into the back of that Trailblazer.

That guy must have been flying when he hit that deer.

Did you ever see the pics of the deer going thru the windshield of that red Dodge Durango?

After looking at the pics closely, I'm going to have to say that most of them look like a photoshop job. The blood splatters are inconsistent. How would the rear passenger seat (behind the driver) have blood splatter on it? The front seat would have blocked most of it.

The most obvious mistake is the cargo cover in the rear. How did it get completely covered in blood when it faces the back window? There is no way that's real....

i'm usually a skeptic but these pics look believable to me after having witnessed something similiar while carving through the mountains on my motorcycle.

from the first picture you can tell how the guts projectiled into the suv. it looks like the deer's innards entered through the top driver's side winshield area, dropped off a bunch of crap on the steering wheel, continued to fly past the left side of the driver's head (his face must've just been covered in deer guts!) sliding along the side windows and roof, all the while flailing blood everywhere it passes. then, hitting the rear window (maybe even broke through that, can't tell from the pics) bouncing around the rear cargo area and finally plopping down where you see the liver(?) and other assorted guts in the back.

what makes me a little suspicious though is why the ground around the two halves of the deer doesn't have even one little puddle of blood anywhere? it all emptied into the suv before it hit the ground?

Well, if you look at the driver's seat, it seems that the driver was missing during the accident. Of course the whole seat isn't visible, but shouldn't there at least be some sort of an outline (of the driver) on the seat? Also, there are two people pictured with the cop outside the Trailblazer. No blood on them though.... I wonder if one of them might have been driving.

Also, how could the rear pull shade get totally covered in blood like that when the stuff around it is not?
 
good point, i don't claim to be a forensics expert but i've seen much stranger things. it looks like the shade could've been in use at the time of the accident and retracted somehow, or maybe someone at the scene retracted it. because it looks like it's hanging out a bit, not rolled up all the way, the way it should be if it wasn't used at all. that would explain why the cargo mat underneath it is relatively clean.

another suspicous thing is, with such a violent impact on the front end, how come no airbags inflated?
 
Another thing that makes me suspicous, is in one of the first pics it shows all the guts sitting on the gauges up front right? then you get the view from the cargo area, yet the guts are gone from the gauges...maybe it happened, but it seems to me it was exagerated a bit.

Judging by the pictures, the airbags would not have inflated in that collision. The sensors for the front airbags are at about the level of the front bumper, so the deer hitting the windshield would not set off the airbags. There just isn't much damage down at bumper level.
 
you would think that from hitting the headlight and hood area that maybe that might set them off. i mean it doesnt appear that it only hit the windshield.

Not really.... airbag sensors use deceleration (rather than impact) to deploy the airbags. I would think that the decelerative forces were pretty minimal considering a 4000+ pound SUV at highway speeds collided with what appears to be a small deer.

It always takes at least two sensors to signal an airbag deployment--and one of them has to be the safing sensor. In other words, even if one of the sensors is triggered, the airbags will not deploy unless the safing sensor is also triggered.

If you ever opened up one of these sensors, you'd see that it is really nothing more than a steel ball (and ramp or steps) held against a powerful magnet. This is why I'm not surprised the airbags didn't deploy.
 
good to know. its interesting that it wouldnt have set off the air bags. theyre going to have to come up with new ways to deploy them, and im sure they already have, or are working on it.

I think the current system works very well, don't you?

I don't think you would want the airbags to deploy in this case.... I don't think they would do much to protect the driver or passenger in an accident like this, except maybe the possibility of of deflecting any glass from the windshield. Then again, it is supposed to be safety glass, so it should not explode into many pieces.

:iagree: that this is most likely :bs: , but deer can jump pretty damn high, so I am not suprised the hood isn't damaged. By looking at the accident and the deer [what's left], a hit high on the windshield may be why the deer is in two pieces instead of one. The blood is way overdone. At most there is probably 6 liters of blood in a deer [Humans have ~ 5L]. Almost all of the blood would have had to exsanguinate inside the truck for that to happen. I've seen a lot of surgery and trauma and it is damn hard to lose that much blood that fast. Just my 2 cents.
 
one thing is for sure, it is just one of those pictures where you cant help but try to find things wrong with it. its sad that everytime theres something amazing or extreme posted on the internet, your first reaction is to pick it apart and try to see what is fact and what is fiction. those pics are on about every forum imagainable now. I know ive seen them in this one, a civic one, a camaro one, and a few others.

I agree, not even a little dark stained puddle.
