Did Limited's Come With Chrome Bumpers? (w/Pics)

Just purchased this 99' 4Runner. My first, I've been looking for about 6 months.

• 134k Miles
• Done at 119k: Timing Belt, Water Pump, Tensioner, All (AC, Pwr Steering, etc.) Belts, Valve Cover Gaskets, Coolant Flush, New Thermostat
• Couple Dings & Scratches, nothing that can't be touched up or buffed
• Never in a accident
• Appears 100% Stock
• Spent It's life in PA and NC

All the limited's I have seen have the painted bumpers. Were these chrome bumpers an option for the limited's?

Very minimal undercarriage rust, very light surface rust in small spots. From what I can tell this was a garaged and well washed vehicle. All exterior rubber seals are still deep black.
I will pick up the vehicle towards the end of the month, then I will be able to see how it looks above the spare tire.

I think there is a good chance the original bumpers were painted and had some rust. And it was cheaper to buy chrome bumpers than to get black primer bumpers + pay to have them painted.
To the best of my knowledge all the 99+ limiteds came with painted bumpers.
That having been said, the 4Runner looks super clean and congratulations on your purchase!

Thank you for all the kind remarks guys. Hopefully it's half as reliable as it looks. I purchased it based on: pictures, carfax, Toyota.com service records, short video of it starting and speaking to the owner. I have not seen it in person yet.

As long as the chrome bumpers aren't rusted I think they look good on the 3rd gens.

It does have the eLocker.

Tires probably only have 18 months left on them, and I believe it has the original shocks and springs. These items will be the first that get taken care of. I'll be going back with some good Michelin tires and just the OEM shocks/coils.

It's hard to believe someone would go to all the trouble. Mine isn't a Limited, but has chrome bumpers. According to most of the literature the color combo I have doesn't exist so I'm not surprised if there are some odd combos out there.

Yeah, I've seen some odd options too. Some places had leather or cloth as options, as well as sport seats, etc. I would not worry, that's a great 4Runner you've got whether the bumpers are chrome or painted. That one has seen a lot of love over the years.

Not everyone is in to the same scenes. Some people enjoy stock vehicles and are here to learn about maintenance.
