Differences in 1998 Federal 5VZ and "California" 1999 5VZ

Finally found a decent engine, but it's a "California" version. I did some research before buying it, seems like the major differences are the ECU and a second catalytic converter (which is not relevant to the swap and became the Federal standard anyway)

This engine came with the entire wiring harness hooked up and uncut, will I be able to use it? Or do I have to use my original wiring harness, and are there other emissions or additional sensors in this engine that isn't present in the 1998 5VZ?

That engine will work fine, always use the wiring harness that matches the body of the vehicle the engine is going into so you’ll want to keep your original engine harness no matter what engine you swap into it

The engine itself is the same. The engine/trans wiring will be different due to CA emissions (AF sensor vs. O2 sensor) and year (electric PS idle-up vs. vacuum idle-up). Swap all your '98 externals and wiring on to the '99 engine and it will work just fine.

I put a 99 engine into my 97, I believe all I did was swap the harness over (put the original 97 harness on the 99 engine). Everything on the engine side was the same.
