Difficulty removing old alternator 2005 4 runner V-8 Sport edition

I am having a difficult time removing my old alternator because the power steering pulley is in the way. Is there a trick to getting it out without removing the pulley? Belt tensioner and belts have already been removed. I need basically about 1/4 inch and I could get it off

You have to take off the pulley or the pump, but its not that big a deal really?

Ok I figured as much, just trying to save my knuckles from some dings

Can you just un-bolt the pump and move it over?

That's what I mean, you still have to un-bolt it; but after you do so you can move it to the side, not physically disconnect the lines and take it out of the engine bay.

removing the pulley is MUCH easier than unbolting the pump.

just the nut, no puller required. it just slides off.
