Driving lights in fog light spot?

Has anyone here installed driving lights in the little blank filler spot low on the bumper? It seems like a decent spot to put some PIAA LP530 lights. These are 3.5in, so some cutting might be needed, but would this spot work well for these? Has anyone tried it?

Maybe some of these?

What year is your rig? I can't quite tell from the description you give whether you have the 99+ with the fat lip. If so, these fit in the blanks perfectly and I used them for years to replace the factory fogs that had cracked lenses:
