I read in this Sunday paper that the 2004 Ford Explorer has had some compliants about putting the car in park and it is really in reverse.

One lady in Atlanta was hurt by this and I thought "Well, I do that every morning". I start my car (the 04 4Runner) and drive down the driveway. since I cannot reach for the newspaper, I park at the end of the driveway and get out and get the newspaper. So, I can this this happening.

So, if your family has a 04 Ford Explorer, I don't think it would be a wise thing to put it in park and get out with it running.
