Former New Orleans Mayor

Sad yet fitting justice for former Mayor Ray Nagin who famously flubbed hurricane Katrina when he seemed to have no disaster plan and subsequently tried to deflect blame to the federal government.

I remember a great line from a U.S. Senator at the time who said "when you pick up the phone in New Orleans and dial 911, the phone doesn't ring in Washington!"


from CNN today: "Nagin was elected as a reformer in 2002. But after a two-week trial that began in late January, he was found guilty of 20 out of 21 counts of bribery, money laundering, fraud and filing false tax returns."

If it worked for Clinton, then maybe Nagin should try it too: "deny, deny, deny"! Or maybe Gordon Gekko"s "greed is good" mantra would have sufficed.

It is utterly amazing the bulls*^t that can spew forth when local businesses and city government get together for the sake of greed.

The city did have evacuation plan, but the people balked because the buses aren't air conditioned, so they didn't follow the plan. I myself would choose sweating over dying.

So he stole Katrina recoveryoney, who'd a thought it ??

Ugh. Our problems aren't a matter of government, politicians, corporations, etc etc, but HUMANS. Why do human beings have to be so easily corruptible and greedy?

His gross incompetence was on full display during Katrina. I'm not at all surprised to hear he's a corrupt scumbag, too.
