I know it is plug and play for 4th Gen, but wasn't knowledgeable about how it would work for 3rd Gen, so I did a couple of searches on this forum, one in the 3rd Gen section, and one in the Audio and Electronics section. You'll find some info here, but without reading the threads thoroughly, just cursory look here and there, I see some reports that it is plug and play, and one report that it works with some minor trimming.
