Fuel tank hanging low?

1999 2WD 2.7L 5spd base model
No body lift
Anyone think the fuel tank is hanging too low? Feels like it just sitting in the fuel tank skid plate. Looked from the other side and I think maybe the straps aren’t installed! :wtf:

Edit: I have disconnected the wires under the rear seat (fuel pump) before I changed the fuel filter, and it was flush with the seat pan. Maybe it’s like it’s supposed to be. If the tank dropped and is resting in the skid plate it would probably rip those wires out.

That's how they look with no running boards. Get some sliders and relax.

As long as the skid bolts up, you are good, and, from what I can see, it does.

That's also my disappointment with 4Runners (including our first-gens). I wish they were as flat-bellied as Tacoma's.
Can be remedied with sliders and armore but to me it's just moe logical, looks better and easier to protect.further if no parts hang below the plane of the frame unless they absolutely have to.

As long as the skid bolts up, you are good, and, from what I can see, it does.
