Getting New (Old) Car!

So this Saturday I'm going to look at an 89 Supra Turbo! I've wanted one since I was a kid, and was just reintroduced to them. Surprisingly, for a 20 year old car, they look great. The one I'm getting has 160k on the clock, but the owner has maintained this thing beautifully!

I plan on using it as a fun daily driver for anytime the wife and baby are not needing to ride along. This will add years to my 05 4Runner! It will be so much fun to have a quick 5 speed car again!

I'll post some once I get it. The wife isn't too happy about this though. Even though I've talked the guy down to the KBB value range. I think it's a steal, plus it will make the 4Runner last that much longer. I guess women don't think with the same logic...they only see the immediate expense, and not the long term benefit.

I tried explaining to her that with the decline of the 4Runner's trade in value, it is in my best interest to run it til it dies. If by driving the Supra 5k per year buys me 2 or 3 extra years of 4Runner use, that saves me 2 or 3 years of potential new car payment. It's opportunity cost, simple really.

She simply sees it as me blowing money on a "go-fast" car! Frustrating.
