Gobi Racks vs ???

maybe the grow part could've been left out. so I retract that. But, look at both racks. they look damn near identical. and yes I agree there is only so many ways to build a rack. but if somebody beat you to the design, its there's. that's how the US system works.

The lawsuit was not about the similarities in the two racks. Somehow Gobi got a patent on any vehicle specific aftermarket roof rack. The WMW rack could have looked like an Adirondack chair, and they would have been sued.

I love Koolaid. I also love good looking roof racks. They are right up there with free beer and topless women with low standards.

I like those local bought Gobi clones your guys can get out in So Cal. Don't get me wrong. I'd rather have one of those and keep $1000. but that guy don't ship so I am stuck with gobi or nothing. I'm not stupid. I just don't think it is fair to start spoutin hate over something that was a clear legal right of Gobi. but that's my opinion. nothing more.

Also, I don't think I missed much on the Gobi thing. I just see a lot of people siding with the nice guy thinking he got squashed by a big company. I just don't think it was a pretty clear cut case, that's all.

I too have the same rack SoSo has. Built solid and had like a 2 day turnaround time after payment....wont get that from gobi that's for sure. The seller is a cool guy too. [MENTION=76583]Morphyne[/MENTION], the guy does ship... shipped mine to Kansas via Fedex with a 2 day transit.

Gobi has some nice crossbars for their racks... I have some roof accessories like cargo carrier and snowboard stuff...

If I get a rack from that CL dude I am going to have to make some for myself or ask if he can fab them up...

Or consider trying to Gobi ones to see if they will fit...

hi Im looking for the guys info as well. I love my Whitson rack but want another one similar to it. Last resort is gobi. I saw one the other day and it has some pretty bad rust. I would linex after powder coat if I had to get a gobi. Also gobi looks more production and not as hand made as a whitson, whitson rack is literally one of the best things in life

I pm'd you back the fabricators info, please be respectful and not blast it out on this thread. If anyone looking for one of these racks is on IG please contact @outgearsolutions he will eventually get in contact with you. He's a one man show and super busy, please don't get mad after a week if he doesn't get back to you, keep trying.

I know he has stopped taking orders for roof racks as he makes them in batches and he is currently working on sliders at the moment.
