Holy SH*T! Cops shoot wrong man 16 times...and he's still alive!

When cops have a search/arrest warrant signed from a judge (for a felony) and there is great cause for bodily harm to cops or suspect (suicide)...cops don't need to "knock and announce" who they are at the door for 10 seconds....(10seconds not official, just making a point)

They can, with a valid warrant, storm in and arrest the guy before he loads his gun and waits for the cops to enter.

Don't be stupid. The fact is, no knock warrants are abused by officers and it leads to innocent deaths. If you're ok with innocents dying so that you can be lazy, I guess that's your call.

And for the record, I would like to repeat that I have a lot of respect for officers and military that put themselves in harms way for my own safety. But I've got no truck with anybody who thinks it's ok to put innocents in imminent danger to make their own job easier. GTFO with that.

Judges sign the warrant...so maybe they are abused by judges...

Why do you say cops being "lazy?" No-knock warrants are a lot harder (more work) to get then "knock-and-announce" warrants.

From what I've seen this is definitely true in some cases.

My best friend from childhood until the day he died peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep, (no cause of death was found, other than his heart simply stopped) was a Cop. Back in 1994, he shot and killed a man. He was initially crucified in the biased media, and by some agenda-driven and biased organizations.

A thorough investigation by Police and Private Citizen review boards showed he had in fact shown great restraint, and would have been justified in shooting, long before he actually did.

The fact that he was called to the scene because this guy was there actively assaulting one of his baby mommas, was apparently missed by the media in their rush to judgement.

He was vindicated by the evidence in the initial investigation, and in the perhaps unfortunately inevitable ensuing Civil Trial brought by the woman who my best friends' actions' saved. I guess some low-life lawyer convinced her she could possibly win big bucks by suing the PD and Officer that saved her life. But I digress.

The effect of that shooting had a profound negative effect on my best friend. He couldn't get over the idea that he had killed some child's Dad, no matter how justified. Because being a good Father to his own Son, was the most important thing in his life.

Pointing out that while the guy he justifiably killed was indeed a sperm donor, he was in no way a figure in his offspring's life. Ie: he would get women pregnant, and then go on his way taking no responsibility whatsoever for the children he helped create.

I know of one other Officer that was more of an acquaintance, that had a tough time dealing with a justified shooting as well. He gained serious weight, went on desk duty, and retired from the job as soon as he was eligible to do so with full retirement benefits.

So, just because the cop feels bad, then it is justified that the (innocent) victim gets shot and gets short-changed?

I understand that not all cops are bad. These instances of cops gone wrong are rare indeed (i hope). However, when it does happen, then the victim that gets shot and maimed for life SHOULD ALWAYS get a fair GENEROUS settlement. Not probably!
