How about these target prices?

I'm searching for that 1-owner gem that has been babied, but tought to find. After a lot of searching and driving, I'm open to v6 or v8, although v8 has a slightly higher appeal. I'm down to 2006 or 2007 and want the Sport package or a Limited. The XREAS in the Sport could be limiting, but the package has some good out-of-the-box features. The "non-fundtional" hood scoop is good looking.:israel: Prefer leather, but I really like the Clazzio covers too. Will likely level it, put on 265/70r17, tires and put some cash into a stereo system. The full lift and more accessories will be when the tires wear out.

Here are my target prices...

V6 2006+ Sport with 110-130k miles = $11.5-$13k
V6 2007+ Limited with 110-130k miles = $12-$13.5k (don't see many '06)

I may go with higher miles if the ownership and service is documented. Seeing a lot of suspicious history and BS from sellers. Target prices could also run up the price if everything is exceptional. V8 commands an extra $500 in my mind.

Thoughts? Am I close on targets? It seems to be what I see in the marketplace.

Your target prices seem about right.

However, if I were you I would put more money towards a truck with lower miles (90k or less) instead of budgeting for expensive seat covers (Cabelas trail gear covers cost $25-30 each), a stereo, lift, tires etc. Those things can always be added later! Just my $.02, feel free to discard if you disagree.

There is a premium on runners here in western NC.

It took me 13 mo. of looking to find a good one. Overpriced as hell up here.

But I found a good one and got an ok price. Be patient.

If you are in the NC area, I recommend searching in the Northern VA area for a 4runner. I have had very good luck fining good value, well maintained trucks there. Its not the "deep" south so most models are 4x4, but its not the north, so there is little snow and salt so much less rust. It is also a fairly high income area, so people are turning over their cars quicker with lower mileage. Lots of options. I ran a quick search on cars.com and found these for you to consider.

Keep in mind that if the V8 has not had the timing belt changed you should deduct the price of the job so if anything they would be about the same. Maybe the V8 would be worth less even.

Patience Will Pay Off!

Hello, when I purchased my 4Runner I had been looking for a few months and finally came across the great deal I found. I bought my 2006 Limited V8 in 2011 for $18,000 and it had a little over 40,000 miles on it. It had new Cooper tires and brake pads installed 4 months before I bought it. I was glad I held out because I was looking at other 4Runner's that had high mileage and not in good shape for more money back then. Good luck on your hunt!
