How goes it?
been checking out the forum for the past couple weeks while I was looking to purchase a new car. Ended up with just a 98 sr5 4cyl with 120k on it.

Found lots of good info about what to look for before buying, and what maintenance should of been done before I got it. ( made sure the timing belt was done, I know that is a biggie)

Anyway, I shall lurk and search some more and fill this ever growing thirst for t4r knowledge.
I am not planning on building this into an offroad machine, in high school I built up an 89 blazer as big and as bad as i could afford (rest in pieces).
My goal is to turn this rig into the ultimate ski and surf mobile.
Current upgrades I am saving for
Snow tires
Ski Rack
CD player.
Fog lights (any experiences on what are best in snow? had piaa 525 plasma ion on the blazer, worked great, kind of spendy)

Thanks for maintaining such a great site. If anyone is from maine and likes to ski or ride let me know, I work at a ski shop and can get discounts and occasionally free ski passes.

no pics , I'll get some up when I get around to it.

(I am at the point in my life where i can't afford to develop film, and can't pull the trigger on a new Digital camera because the one I want hasn't been made yet, everytime i go camera shopping i read about the cameras coming out next season, and tell myself to wait.)
It's all black, looks like orig paint, a couple hood scratches that's about it.

I'm not really that big into aesthetics, as i am functionality.
It is the sr5 4cyl auto, so not a ton of reasons to build it up.
My goal by the end of next year is to have it running tighter than a top, and then see if i can get to 300k.

The frame is in really good shape for being in new england, a little rust on the runningboards, but i just assume scrap those before they eat at the body or frame.

Welcome Reef from a fellow Maineiac. Those 4cyl. 2.7's are tough, I recently traded a '97 5 spd that had 215,000 miles. New timing chain at 200,000 and a new starter at ~150,000, other than that it was normal wear and tear items. Still ran strong. I don't put too many mods on vehicles either, I lifted an '85 toy pickup back in the day but I grew out of that. Alot of nice runners on here with lifts & mods and I think they look great and I love to see those pics, I like my runners stock/original.
I don't ski but occasionally make it down to Sunday River for r&r.
