I know there are a million and one suspension threads, but I haven't see one that focused on the passenger experience.
I wanted to tap the collective wisdom of the forum and see what folks thought might be good options.

The Issue:
I am transitioning into a new career that will potentially involve ferrying people all over kingdom come - not Uber mind you, but it might as well be..

A number of the roads in my area are "less than smooth", and my 4R stock suspension is rather harsh according to various passengers I have had.

I would like to upgrade the suspension to one that provides as much of a "plush" ride as possible. Between the various options (ICON, Fox, Bilstein, etc.), I was wondering what you might choose if you were in my position.

Off-road performance is not that important to me for the time being.

Any thoughts?

A set of new OEM shocks from your friendly Toyota parts supplier would be my first choice for ride quality. That is if XREAS is not an option.

I've got relatively cheap comfortable highway tires that came on mine and OEM suspension. It's far smoother in any conditions than the other cars in the garage (BMW M3 and 328i) and the unanimous choice for getting around in living room style comfort. If it's not worn out and clunky it'll be hard to beat.

Why not just run a lower tire pressure? Then just bill out your tires to the company? 20psi will give a smoother ride, 15 will feel like butter

The 2.5" adjustable coilover setups from Icon/King/Fox, you name it, will ride firm and more truck-like, at least my Icons do but I'm sure they are all valved similar enough. I would say the ride is "more controlled" than stock but I'm not sure what your weenie passengers that think your stock truck rides "rather harsh" will think about the ride. Its nothing near unloaded half ton truck stiffness though. Closer to my Dad's new Tundra maybe.

If money wasn't much of an object, I would consider getting one of these rebuildable/adjustable coilover options listed above paired with their rear shocks and have the manufacturer or reputable reseller revalve these to your specs for total street comfort. Shouldn't be much of an upcharge if any, would just have to talk with them over the phone before you place your order.

With the adjustable coilovers you should be able to adjust them down for near stock ride height and you can even keep stock coils in the back.

If any of you have ever dealt with the general public, you know people like to complain about anything and everything...

The tires were next on the list to be replaced (got the 4R used about a year ago) - looking forward to see how much the ride changes.
