i'm a dope, i should have known better where this squeak came from

We had purchased our 2010 sr5 a couple months ago with 80k on the clock. After a month it developed a squeak when going over bumps and sometimes when shutting the door.
I had checked everything underneath and then crawled under looking for clues without success. i thought it may have been the upper control arm since there was a little dirt/grease around the boot.
It bugged us for the next 5000 miles until one day i closed the door and it seemed louder.

I pushed on the bumper and whatever was attached to it.

It was the hood release latch. Good ol wd-40 and the squeak was gone. I'll have to lube it with something else since the wd-40 will eventually wash away.

Thank god i didn't have to replace anything or resort to the dealer to figure out where it was.arty:

T-9 is your friend there. Much better and will attract less junk than wd-40.

I know when i use white lithium grease, that seems to get super dirty.

Does the t-9 stay in place pretty well without getting washed away?

I have all kinds of greases. I have one for the door hinges that seems to work very well.

funny how these trucks always have latch squeaks. Took me forever to figure out my tail gate latch was the culprit when my 4th gen was squeaking. Now to wait for the hood latch to start squeaking on my 5th.
