Intro to desert trial runs

July 9th 101 Dirt Class

We came up with the idea of making a "class/workshop" style event where those who have an interest in getting into desert off road runs, but have no experience, can come out and learn some of the basics. These will be day events with a focus on education vs exploring, therefore we will not cover a lot of miles. There will be a 101 and 102 class, which will go over various topics on how to get into dirt trail runs. Classes will be open to any off road capable vehicle. Events will be in the area east of Carson NV.

Notes: We are not professionals, we are not certified trainers, and we are not end all be all in knowledge. We are off road enthusiasts sharing our experiences of off roading with the hope of assisting those who want to get into this hobby to have a less intimidating way to learn.

Posting a few replies that came from other forums.

1. There is no charge for this. We are doing this as an active off road community member.
2. We will be doing another one of these on August 27th, which is the Saturday before our Poker Run 4.
3. Please remember we are not, nor do we claim to be the experts. We are sharing our knowledge on what we have learned when going out on runs.

We had a great first dirt day / 101 group. Several people who signed up had last minute changes but we still had a great group. I think I was born on the wrong side of the country for offroading. I am not particularly fond of going rock crawling at 5 mph. I would much rather go fast down a dirt trail like these. I am trying to plan a month or so, to go out west and go offroading. Does anyone have suggestions that are absolute musts? The faster you can drive, the better. So pretty much like a rally cross stage through dessert scenery.

Desert is all about speed. There is a mix of everything. On the website look for events we do. Reno to Las Vegas or other bigger runs. Those are multi day runs and worth a trip out.

Roc fest is in OCT that is 3-4 days of desert trail runs like you want.
