Is a 4wd and 2wd rear diff 100% the same?

I am looking for a replacement for my 99 2wd and I found a good one in the yartd from a 98 4wd but just wanted to confirm thare indeed the same?

The only think I can think of that could be different is the gear ratios. Make sure to check those first.

They're the same. The gear ratio almost certainly won't be, 4wd is geared higher.
