Is Cali Burning Up?

Like last year in San Diego, Northern California and Big Sur are engulfed by smoke. It's hard to describe but the air quality is bad to very unhealthy. The 4Runner is a great saver with the air on and in recirc mode one actually has the feeling of breathing somewhat cleaner air. people are routinely wearing masks. Normally I can see Sacramento coming down Hwy 70 From Marysville. Not now. Visibility is about 1 mile on very bad days. Particulate and Ozone are sending people to the ER by the bucketful. I don't know which is worse, those terrible floods and this week after week of filthy sooty air.

California is falling apart...you guys are now an (bi)annual risk for disaster, if not earthquake, then it's forest fires....

Its sad because the weather is so nice out there, and the land is beautiful (I had breathtaking typed in but that would be in bad taste) in much of the state.
I hope the fires stop soon and all you Californians get back to life as usual.
When we have major fires up here in the Boreal areas, we always seem to get rain in time before too much damage is caused.
Good luck to the many Cali members on the board and best wishes from me :biggrin2:

Our entire state is pretty much on fire. At one point there were over a 1000 fires (though there was some debate on what exactly counts as one fire). I haven't heard any reports that suspect any of the fires being arson, which is good. Some fires won't be contained until the end of the month. :(

Air quality was so poor yesterday that the Dept of health advised not going out at all esp. in Folsom and Yuba City. We gave out N95 masks to the security guys at the hospital as they made their way around outside. Particulate matter can be quite hazardous to sensitive groups. will be nice when the wind starts..........cooler today.

It was bad enough that last year, All State wouldn't offer anymore new home owner's insurance policies. I guess we're no longer "in good hands."
