Is DIY regearing really plausible for a shade tree mechanic?

The warranty is definitely something to consider. Basically, in my mind, it factors into a trade off between getting some extra tools to do the job or having the warranty for the diffs. This is where the real decision lies IMHO.

That is exactly where the decision lay for me as well. After thinking it over for a few months and pricing out what I'd need to what ECGS would build it for I decided to let the pro's handle this one.

My reasoning was this re-gear was a one shot deal for me. I live in a small town so being able to put those tools to work for others is a very long shot. I just couldn't justify my time and having tools just sit. In the end I'm happy with my decision. I'm sure you will be too, whatever you decide.
