Is it the time to upgrade?

i think you should sell. you are clearly not going to keep it. better to sell it to someone who will love it more and then get 4th gen which you will enjoy - I am sure.

I cost a lot more to fix ANYTHING on a 4th btw.
 
I’ve seen that and its from one of those Iraq dealers. The thing was probably a salvage and they did a tile wipe. These guys are merchants, they'll sell you anything.
 
I vote sell. It sounds like you are not totally in love with your 4runner and upgrading to a 4th gen would be nice. I love my 3rd gen, but the 4th gen is nice to have all the extra power and they ride so smooth. If you have the chance now, then I would take it since you won't have to search for a buyer. Too bad COB got your Spoiler, been wanting one of those for a while.
 
Ya but I have a buyer now (8K) and the other 8k on hand. I don’t think I will have the extra dough in the future and I will be left with a old used up truck. Then there’s the cost of another timing belt at 200k. The 4th has a lifetime chain.
Haven‘t had a full time job since 07, budget cuts at UCSD where I was art director.
Working 2 days now for the San Diego Union Tribune... but the print media is dying.
Ok so did I wine enough?
 
hey fellow san diegan (i just noticed)

the timing belt isn't too costly if you have a fair mechanic. you should check out "The Truck Shop" in miramar.

ALSO, I will give you $300 cash for those 5 spoke wheels. you or the next owner can use it to upgrade to aftermarket.

Ya I used Mark at MR International @110K, he’s pretty knowledgeable and takes classes to keep up to date. He’s up off of Miramar too. He advise me to buy the kit at Rising Sun and the whole job was about $500. Other places wanted $1500 to $2000.

I just saw a set of these on Craigslist SD for $130 on 7/24!!! I called & e-mailed yesterday, but the listing is removed now :redbrick:

I had a timing belt done at Toyota Carlsbad in '08 for my 2001 Tacoma with the 3.4, and it was a $250 service, and I payed somewhere around $500 because it needed a water pump and some other misc kit or something. $1500-$2000 is highway robbery!
 
Ya the kit had the water pump too. They show me mine after they took it out and it was just starting to leak. Mark did a value cover gasket too.
 
bunch of vultures out there... you want my rims, spoiler... what about the guy that gave me the deposit?
