Just bought 98 SR5... and can't drive it

I just bought a 98 SR5 4WD 5-speed, 188k, and perfect interior and couldn't be more excited about it. Unfortunately, I live in Seattle, and I found the truck in SLC so it's sitting at my parents house there until i can drive my truck home and trade it out for my truck right now. What's worse is I won't be able to drive it until the end of May, because my baseball season doesn't end until then!!

My mom sent me one of the spare keys to mess with me... what a nice lady.

I barely have enough money to survive as is... this car will be the death of me yet! haha.

Mods probably won't start other than smaller inexpensive ones for another two years because of school. Probably headed to North Dakota next year, got offered a big scholarship to go there for baseball.

I say leave the fake wood grain. You might mess up the interior trying to remove it.

that's what I'm thinking. too much of a PITA to change all of that when it doesn't look bad at all IMO.

It looks great! I like the wood grain, it's different. Keep some good protectant on it so it stays nice.

The fake wood grain is terrible and with a little patience you can get it off without any damage to your ride. This is a thread on TTORA that my buddy did where he and i pulled off his fake wood grain.

A hair dryer and rubbing alcohol on a rag for the residual adhesive would make the wood grain a 2-hour job. I had to take mine off because it was peeling at some of the corners. Just take it easy when you are peeling so that you don't do anything destructive.

If it's not peeling, might as well keep it.

I'm gathering that the 5-speed is the favored over the auto, I certainly prefer it.

and yeah i do- I'm going to be a junior next year and i'm at a junior college right now, so i'm transfering to a university to finish out my career. I have a scholarship offer in North Dakota right now at a good school so it's possible i'll be there dealing with a lot of snow so the timing to buy this couldn't be better!

It's not fake wood grain trim, and it isn't "limited" trim. The limiteds came with fake wood grain trim (almost turtle shell pattern). This is real wood trim. And seriously, there is no reason to take it off unless it is peeling really bad, which it doesn't appear this one is.

I actually like both wood trims, but I like this one better than the limited one (although I think the limited one is more durable as the real wood one tends to delaminate).

Anyway, I am tired of people bashing the wood trim's. I think it looks good. Keep it. It looks plain without it.

I'll be headed to Jamestown College to be a Jimmie haha. that's some deep snow... the coach told me when i visited in February that they had 31 inches at that time last year and i was pretty shocked.. but i don't mind the snow, being from utah i've seen enough of it. I'm just about done with the rain in the pacific NW tho.
