I think Steve at Sonoran Steel makes some wing nut type things to also remedy this issue. I've not tried them, but they seems like a good idea that would be easy to make with a welder.

Yes and I think it also involves cutting up the plastic trim. The studs work super well because you can set the seats on them and don’t have to worry about aligning them to the bolt holes.

Are you able to sit up straight with this height of platform? Or if you were 5'10 would you be able to? :laugh:

No, especially not after adding enough memory foam to make plywood comfortable.

If I could do the project again I’d forget the underlayment stuffing under the carpet and rely on a foam pad for comfort.

No I did not. I’ve made a couple small adjustments such as trimming the front section on one side to allow the drivers seat to be in normal driving position.

I’ve used it a number of times, it’s great. The plastic tubs are super handy too and sometimes we keep the back platform in on trips just for that.

This year we used the platform for a week while visiting folks that didn’t have enough bedrooms - so we turned the garage into one with it. Very comfy with sleeping pads.

I just came across this thread recently and the use of the pins/dowels to hold pieces in place inspired me to do the same on a section of my build. It has really helped hold everything in place and cut down on noise!
