K9 Roof Rack install 2016 5th Gen

The Expeditions Overland guys have the longer rack. So the front part of the rails has more pressure pushing down which helps make it seem more flush. They might have bent theirs a little too

Maybe try emailing them, I've sent them many emails regarding parts and gear with a fast turn around with a reply. Im sure they would help you out with install tips.

I want this rack too however i cannot decide if i want the 2.2 or 2.0 for my 2017 TRDOR. I plan on running a RTT but curious on how much room will be left up top once its mounted.

There is a ton of room on the 2.2m and how much depends on what RTT you choose. Standard RTT like 48''x56'', they will leave sufficient room in the front to mount other gear

Any updates on installs of this rack or RTT's? I'm considering purchasing this rack but finding it difficult to find pics of the 2m vs 2.2m length. Also would appreciate any feedback on the larger RTTs or Hard Shells using this rack.

I can't remember which length I have, but I have a James Baroud on mine with the K9 rack, works well.

Thanks much for the response, exact same setup I'm interested but considering the ikamper instead of the James Baroud. I spoke with Paul at Equipt1, great guy and very knowledgeable. He suggested the 1.8m to not fully cover the sunroof but I like the extra utility of the full, and it looks like your hardtop RTT is taking up the entire rack.

Yes, my tent takes up the whole rack, and I have it as far back as possible so that when the hatch is open, it is about 1" from touching the back of the tent. I made a rear ladder for my T4R so I can leave the telescoping ladder at home. Anyway, yes, the biggest drawback of a RTT is the loss of roof rack utility.

Here's my 2.2m with the Series 3 1800. With it on I still have about 10" - enough for a high lift jack.

Ill get some pictures posted but they sell mounts for non eezi-awn awnings and to make them work with my cvt awning i had to widen the bolt slats some and make the sliding channel on the mount a little longer. I used a dremel and it took about 10 minutes to do both mounts. Other than that they work perfectly and the awning doesnt get in the way of the spring rods for the tent windows. I have had the rack since spring and its been used quite a bit since for my tent and kayaks and I coulent be happier. If you do buy the rack put one washer ontop of each spacer before bolting down the rail and you will have a perfectly flat channel without having to bend anything.

Any issues with wind noise?

Not at all, its a very quiet rack even on the highway. The slats go front to back instead of side to side which helps with noise. On my FJ I had a baja rack and it was extremely noisy.
