KDSS - Is there an Aftermarket Repair Option

I wouldn't trust a used one. I had a customer recently with only 50k miles on his KDSS system and the piston was having the same problem. Mind you, it was a 2015 model and just hardly ever driven, but the piston was shot.

I think most people that never offroad them have no problems with them.

They typically are, best bet is to get the PN for yours and the PN from Ebay and cross reference on a toyota parts website, if possible. Genuine OEM Toyota Parts and Accessories Online - Toyota Parts Deal is a good one

Looks like the Lexus and T4R actuators are compatible; gonna go ahead and order it ($350 from a junked '10 Lexus GX). I'll keep you posted how the swap out goes once the part arrives.
