Kobolt 24-Volt Max 1/2-in Drive Cordless Impact Wrench

Lowe's has this on sale for $118. I do not have experience with impact tools, and the ones I've seen at lower price points are 1/4 inch. Can it handle all the 4R needs and is it worth it? I think it would definitely help with lug nuts and be nice to have on long road trips. Any thoughts?

There's at least 2 different models of the Kobalt 24V 1/2" impact, please post a link to the one you're referring too, hard to give you an opinion without knowing which one you're looking at.

When I did my timing belt it removed the crank bolt with no ease. Removes Honda crank bolts with no problem, which have been the toughest bolts I have had to remove when working on vehicles.

I'm not saying these 1000+ ft/lb tools don't have a place but I find my 1/4" drive, 12v, small, lightweight impact gun gets a ton of use. I don't need enough power to twist every fastener in the car in half with a second of carelessness. If things need to be tight I like to feel it by hand/torque wrench. The big guys are great taking rusty suspension stuff apart, but I've snapped my share that way as well. More isn't always better.

The Kobalt the OP mentions is very good, and has plenty of power. Batteries are cheap but the charger is $60.

The real problem I have with Kobalt products in general from my vantage point is that their platform changes often, thus if one has to warranty the product for replacement, they may get a better impact but it also may be worse (less power, etc.).

If you can get it all for under $200 (that is the going rate for the kit at the moment), then it should work well for you.
