OK guys, (most of the ones here are guys, but there are a few ladies too. List your favorite romantic movie.

Now I know most of you would rather have a root canal done followed by a colonic irrigation but there will be times when some crush of yours will either drag you kickin' and screamin' into a theater for some tear jerkin' chick flick, or you wil have to go to the video store with her and she is not going to be pleased wiht your selection of "Death Race 2000: the Prequel" or "Bikini Chicks Washing a 4Runner: A Thrilling Documentary"

The the worse part is you start crying in the middle of this chick flick.......or try to wipe that tear away with one arm going across the back of your head to reach the eye on the other side of your head......or clearing your throat and walking to the kitchen to get a drink so she would not catch you blubbering.....

So start listing your favorite hanky flick and see where we are:

Mine are:

Casablanca: what a cast. What a classic. What iconic performances. That dialogue is now part of our lingo.....middle aged people finding, losing, finding, and losing love.....

Bridges of Madison County: What a tear jerker for middle age love lost.

Love is a Many Splendored Thing: For us old farts old enough to appreciate William Holden as everyman, cynical, worldy, weary, finding love across cultures.....that theme music was it. Sappy enough to give you diabetes...a real wrist slasher....

My personal favorite is "Saving Ryan's Privates" starring Jenna Jameson and Derrick Swinger. That one is a real jerker.

In addition to Olliebear's pics,

The Quiet Man - John Wayne

Same Time Next Year - Alan Alda

Star Man - 1984 Jeff Bridges

Forrest Gump - Tom Hanks

Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (at the end . . . "My friends, no one bows to you . . . " )

....Shenidler's List....:( The very end when the real survivors visit his grave......

Not sure how I forgot that one!!

Also,

Ghost - 1990- Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore

Always - 1989 - Richard Dreyfus, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman

both difficult to watch if you've ever lost a significant other.

A Short Season

Brian's Song.

"................and tonight when you go home and hit your knees, ask God to love him too"

Alright - maybe not romantic but it always brings a tear to me eye!

Romatic comedy would have to be: Love Actually

Sad/romanic movies would be:

Forest Gump-when Jenny dies

The Green Mile-when John Coffey dies

Uhh, how about "Where the red fern grows."

If you've read it you know what I'm talking about, the movie does the book justice though...

How could I forget that one!!

The story takes place near Ft Gibson, Oklahoma. It's a pretty accurate rendition of eastern Oklahoma during the depression.

"The Yearling" is very similar.

The Big Lebowski ----- When the dudes rug gets peed on
Lonesome Dove ------- When Gus Dies
The Patriot -------------- When the oldest son dies
I know theres got to be a few more. Where the Red fern Grows was a great one. I dont think the book is the same after the first time you read it but couldnt wait to see the movie after reading the book

I have to agree with that. Big Fish really brought a tear to my eye... and I saw a preview last night for World Trade Center.... I was almost crying from the preview.
