BigWapitiJohnny's 4runner. He traded it in for a 2011 Tundra, and I guess he came up to St. Joe to do the deal, because his 4Runner is now sitting here killing me with it's awesomeness. And it sucks something horrible, because the used car side of Rolling Hills Toyota is the sleeziest bunch of idiots I've ever dealt with. I used to be in the car business, the good kind (where we didn't have to be sleezy) so that makes it even harder to try to talk to a used car manager that A) doesn't know a damn thing about cars, and B) thinks that customers are dumber than him.


Anyway. I thought about trying to get the rig, but there's no way the dealership will work any kind of reasonable deal. They want $10k for the truck. :rant: 1998 SR5 with 170k miles. Sure it's got stuff....but that actually doesn't help them sell it to a normal person.

Here's the kicker: they've give me a whopping $4.5k for my 1999 Sport with 140k. But a desert dune 1998 SR5 is worth $10k. WOW.

Yeah... he mentioned that on the CO forum. Legendary rig, just didn't fit his needs any more. I was fortunate enough to see the truck in action last month on our Cinco de Mayo trip.

I'm sure it will attract a cool new owner.

Yes, it is worth 10K....to someone who wants an expo rig. But around here.....nobody is into that stuff, let alone know what it is. I will bet $100 that whoever buys it will use it strictly for mall crawling. And it's not worth $10k for that. Hate to see a great rig go to waste.

I noticed that too...

-Gun box? Not a lot of room for a long gun with all those dividers. Perhaps they're for pistols, that way you can divide them into calibers or makes? Nothing like exploring with an armory in your trunk.

-Cutting board for field dressing? Field dressing as in First Aid? Is the cutting board for amputations then??

I'm sure those guys would love it. All I hear about on their forums is how much they wish they could get the petrol engines in their Hilux Surfs. Kinda funny how much we lust after their diesels. The grass is always greener I suppose!

I'm still holding onto the hope that it finds a home in a overlander's garage.

well we know its worth 10k but would be hard pressed to sell it for that. wonder what the trade in was to the truck.

most dealers when you trade in dont count the mods anyway.

but who ever does drop the change on it will surley be happy

Front and rear bumpers are both custom Armorology. Best thing out there really.


Honestly, the only thing I don't like about this rig is that it's Desert Dune. lol. If it was any other color, I would probably have an even harder time not going back to the dealership and trying to deal with those boneheads to get my mitts on it.

Anybody want to buy my '99 for $7.5k? I could probably talk them down to around there if it was an outright sale. lol

It is too bad he traded his 4Runner in, I believe it was a family vehicle since new. It was a sweet machine with extremely well thought out mods. He is very meticulous about his mods, I'm sure his Tundra is going to turn out sweet. His trailer is amazing.

Super nice guy, can't wait to wheel with him again.
