Low Profile Roof Rack - Metal Fabrication East Coast?

Hi All,

I'm looking to get a roof rack in a platform style, preferably low profile. I understand there are a few bargains with the ROLA racks and etc., but I think the lower profile is really what I want to invest in.

I saw there were a few smaller fabricators that used to be around, but for various reasons they're gone. Everyone left is on the West Coast, but if shipping rates cost 30-40% of the total deal, it starts being less of a bargain.

If anyone knows anyone on the east coast (preferably south) that might be able to fab up something custom, I'm all ears.

OR if someone knows of a readymade solution somewhere around here, I'd also be interested.

Check This Thread out. I went though the same thing with wanting one and not wanting to pay shipping. This is about the most budget way I could find to actually make something functional.

It can be seen in my build thread Here and I'll be doing an update on it hopefully this Friday showing how to mount the rack

You can get it for $600 shipped and I would rather have a Baja rack for quality vs something a fabricator would come up.
Also they have decades of experience building roof racks for Toyota vehicles vs a general fabricator you would find who probably has none.

OK4wd.com offers free shipping also so there's that for people not wanting to pay the $80-$100 to ship it....

Price I see is 660 PLUS 150 for shipping. At 800 I'm near the Infidel Garage's shipped price, and I like his better.

600 shipped would be a bargain.

Yours seems less square than the one in the thread you linked. What size UniStrut did you pick? (EDIT: Nevermind - I see which one it is)

I just mounted supports over the sun roof and will post about them in my build thread this Friday after I put it through some tests. Seems study though.

I've got lock nuts on all the corners and the mounting points and nothing seems to be backing out.

Keep in mind, it has been on for less than a week. I won't be able to get real world testing done immediately but I do plan on hopping up there and see how it does with my weight. I've also got a trip planned Mar 24-26 and will have some stuff up there to we'll see how it holds.

If you're interested, I can tag you in the post on my build after I figure out final mounting solutions.

Don't understand why a steel roof rack...there are some nice looking ones but just one more piece of steel to maintain against corrosion. Personally, I would prefer aluminum
