My '98 4Runner V6 Limited

Well I just recently purchased a 1998 4Runner V6 Limited. It has 70,000 miles. By the pictures you'll be able to tell it has a bit of damage. The previous owners didn't want to have it fixed. I'd always wanted a Runner so I thought why not. I do work in a Body Shop by the way. Also, I work at Dealership, but please dont hate me. I'm currently exploring what modifications etc to do. I dont plan on off-roading or anything. Just a nice daily driver for the time being.

I plan on posting some fixed pictures once I get it going. The estimate written by the previous owners insurance was for around $7300. As of now with what I paid for it and parts at my employee cost I think I'll have at most $5000 in it. I thought it was a pretty good deal

so thats how the airbags come out, the steering wheel is kind of cool. Downside for rappers with tvs there, its about to get 3D

I got bags from a salvage yard for about $550 for the set and the module. Not too bad

no offense or anything but i dont know if i could trust that after they blew once i know you replacing it all but thered still be the doubt in my mind if i ever got into another accident . . .

well the salvage bags have never blown. they are just out of a vehicle that had wrecked w/o the bags blowing. Some states it is illegal to use salvage bags for the reason of whether or not to trust them. I look at it as the same as new bags, how can you trust either way? we've had bags out of totals here at the shop and we blew them up for fun (you have to before disposing of them) and they go off every time. So I think I'll be ok, if not it'll be one rough accident, if it ever happened.

Yep,a rear diff lock is nice bonus so hopefully you'll make use of it. :

big weekend ahead, pulling frame and hopefully installing airbags.

thinking of also repairing all flares and painting the gold color. any thoughts? i think the grey might look good because eventually i'd like to do all clear lenses.

i agree! its not often i come across that 2 tone black and beige, why didnt you want to paint the entire bumper?

I personally like the chrome as opposed to the painted painted bumpers.

i did, if you did not notice paint the lower valance which normally remains unpainted.

that color combo i dont believe was available until 2000-2001.

Agreed, very nice job. It came out much better that I would of thought. I am sure you are very happy with your new (slightly used) rig.:arrow:
