Need help! 130k mile maintenance

hey guys, my father passed away last year but left his pride and joy 984runner limited 3.4l with me. he did amazing maintenance to it all oem toyota parts...new diff, struts waterpump fan etc.....

what maint do I do? he left it w. 126 I put about 4k on it. I've been searching all over for maint. tips even those toyota websites that tell u wat to do but .no specific help...how often do I change plugs belts. or even better wats needs to be done for 130k mile tune up?

oh yea, changed injectors, thermostat aswell. ball joints tie rod ends...seafoamed it several times did several radiator changes.....I had the car idling on a hotday w. ac on for like an hour and the car overheated like a mofo. coolant is full but I drove it around and went back down and it never happened again

I am very sorry about how you came to own the T4R, it sounds like a very nice, well cared for T4R.

1) Check this website for maint schedule: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/index.php It only goes to 120k so what you should do is verify all the 120k items are done and then go back to the beginnning. So at 130k you should be reading the 10k interval.

2) As far as the overhaeta is concerned: After it's cooled double check the fluid level and then confirm the fan-clutch is in good shape.

ok so that's how it works, every 10k interval after 120k. and 150k would be the next major tune up for 30k service?

how often do I need to change sparkplugs? wat interval would that be?

its just I never owned a high mileage car over s 80k,and so babied by forums sched. maint.

You got it... When the odometer says 150k you should do the 30k list. To keep a vehicle in tip-top condition I always recommended reading the notes at the bottom of the list and treating it as if it was a severe service vehicle (towing/off-roaded etc.) Check in on the above website at 5k intervals rather than 10k intervals though...

As far as plugs go, generally 30k is the interval unless you use platinum plugs with a 100k service interval. I will run 30k plugs 30k but I pull the 100k plugs at 75k or 4-5 years because I am afraid of them getting stuck in the head. IMHO stay away from Bosch plugs.

I had a hard time removing that oil filter, but i found it very easy taking it off through the wheel well.

I checked the plugs, and they were in very new condition, so i am not even going to bother with that.

What i am going to do next is definately change the fuel filter even though toyota does not mention any thing about it. I know after 130K miles and 10 years later, it should be replaced

I agree sort of and flush that nasty, black looking brake fluid out of there:biggrin2:

Fuel filters, the in fuel tank type, generally last for 200k or the fuel pump crapping out, whichever happens first. I think you have an 'in tank' style filter which is tough to change and some would argue it's not worth the effort. The 'don't bother' attitude doesn't apply if you've run the vehicle in very remote places in MX, filled it from a fuel tank on a farm etc. If you've been using strictly US pump gas from high volume stations I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know how long the typical 3rd gen fuel pump lasts for...

The third gens have there fuel filter right under the driver seat under the chasis. I heard several ppl. who did change it felt a huge diff. in start up and idle.
