Need some battery advice...

I simply trust Panasonic to put out a quality product. I haven't looked at Dealer pricing for these. Another member loves Odyssey, they're in the $300 range (Retail Price). I suppose if you're a serious OffRoad guy this may make some sense. I'm not that guy. Rutty Gravel Roads and small creeks 30mins from civilization, is about it.

I've always had great experience with Interstate.

I was being a smart-a$$, dealers don't sell the Panasonic OEM battery here in NA. It is unobtainium. At least not by itself....

My 04 runners panasonic battery lasted 9 years...replaced with an interstate....stil working today!
I feel newer vehicles draw more plus..no dought there not as good..

My 08 came with the original battery, I replaced it with an Optima and left the Panasonic sit in the garage for 6.5 years, threw it back in the truck on trade in day and it started first try! They don't make them like they used to, that thing was still good after almost 10 years

That actually makes some sense, a Panasonic is working to get out of Consumer Goods. At least in NA.

Years ago, I used the "craps out on the road" criteria to select Sears brand batteries- Sears is everywhere. But looking back on 5 decades of Sears batteries, How many times has my car battery crapped out on the road where this criteria would have "saved-the-day"?

ZERO!!

I can almost always get a jump start. And when I couldn't, having a Sears battery didn't help. And my batteries have always lasted longer than the "warranty". So this is no longer a criteria for me.

Since the batteries are very similar I consider a few things when buying. First is rated quality, I won't knowingly buy a poor quality battery. Next is warranty which has 2 parts, the warranty numbers, and the practicality of it. A superawesome lifetime warranty from just one shop may not be of much real benefit to me if it craps out on the road. OTOH there are Walmarts everywhere, which is where I got my last battery.

I buy "Truestart" from dealer and have had very good life, I live in Chicago area so we get some cold, it's 11 degrees today and been about same for a week and looks that way for another, down to zero or below at night.
The Truestart in 4runner was new August 2015, has about 45K miles on it and starts fine every day.
Also have in Matrix and Highlander and all are 4-5 years old. Gave them all a charge recently with a new NOCO battery charger I bought but that's the first any have had other than by vehicle alternator.

I'm suspecting dealer replace battery before sell the car to me
