new 87, suspension questions and LA mechanic?

Hey all,

I just picked up a new to me 87. My plan is to make it a full time convertible, but one big hitch... it doesnt fit in my garage. I have an silly low garage, like 72 in tall. Other than not being able to take the top off, i cant really work on it until its in the garage ( no driveway and house is on a steep hill )

The truck came with a small lift on it... owner said 3 in, but it feels like more. I was wondering if anyone could take a look at this and let me know whats going on?

Also if anyone has a recommendation for a LA mechanic please let me know.

Looks like the rear is lifted but we would not know how it was done without seeing pics of suspension.

I do not see evidence of front suspension lift.

while no evidence of a suspension lift up front, there is evidence of a hideous body lift that looks to be about 3". i'll assume that's what's lifting the rear, too.

I agree, front suspension looks stock. got pics of the rear leafs?

But you can see the lift body lift in the last picture he posted.

Your shackles are inverted. You need to flip the spring down. I bet that rides horrible!!

amazing how rusty the back is with how clean the front it. You can see evidence of someones cover up paint job on the right shock.

rides a little bouncy, but not terrible. The rust looks pretty surface-y i bet they started to clean it up in the front and just stopped by the back.

So the front doesnt have lift? it feels really high, im guessing once the back end is down the front will lower also?

there is evidence of the body lift in all four of the pictures in the first post, not just the last one.

Springs may have been over-arched pulling the mounting eyes closer together,hence the inverted shackles?

Yeah, the leafs are bent. I had to drop it off at the mechanic today to get moving on this. I have 30 days to get it street legal. Looks like there is a 4in body lift and the inverted shackles on the back end. I can ask them about the front diff.
