These look promising. Should retrofit into most uni-ball UCAs.

Don't know for sure, but my understanding was that they would have several popular sizes.

They are not available yet.

If I had to guess, the "HCOM20" designation in the last line in the picture on the left would be 1.25", based on the designation of the FK bearing HCOM-20T(which is what we use in our All Pro's).
Could be mistaken.

I just realized my initial post was confusing. I typed ball joint on accident instead of uni-ball.. I just corrected it.

These are heavy duty high angle ball joints designed to press in and replace uniballs.

If there's no rubber sealing boot for grease it's gonna just be a gimmick. It'll be a single sided greasable uniball. Been tried before, doesn't work. That's why uniballs are the new hot thing. Now then, if they've found a way to seal the bottom, I'm game for a set. But I haven't seen anymore info on these for a while

See at the bottom where it says "applications include wssx16, hcom16, hcom 20, hcom24"? Those are the bearing sizes. 16 is 1", 20 is 1.25", 24 is 1.5". Wssx is a wide series, stainless steel, non-Teflon lined bearing. hcom is chrome plated, hardened, low carbon steel. Really not sure why icon insists on using predominantly non-stainless steel bearings, aside from being lower cost/higher profit margin

I installed a set on my 10 trail last weekend. Aligned great and no issues/noises DDing it the last couple days.

There is a wiper on the bottom of the joint that keeps grease in and crud out. IMO this is the joint to use if you live in snow country.

The common sizes for other UCA's will be out around SEMA.


It took me about 4 hours to install and that included rebuilding the Icon shocks and dicking around with the KDSS to re-install the shocks.

I wonder if you could just go get a couple boots from a chevy ball joint at the parts house and shove them on before you stab the stud in the knuckle? But after looking at the prices on those things, I'll pass.

I had a similar thought and found these from Steinjager. My conclusion was that because the uniball articulates so much throughout suspension travel, and because the gasket has to sit just so in the uniball cup, they were impractical for off road use. They do however work great on shock bearings!
For my application though (Total Chaos) it's really not a huge deal to swap out the uniballs every 16-18 months, and they're cheap enough if you know where to look
