New in Colorado

Hey everyone,
I do not have a runner yet but am looking for one. I have been building Toyota mini trucks for a while and also built a pretty capable FJ. I am looking for a middle of the road, DD with some offroad capability that isn't a heavy pig like the FJ's. Want to build something for longer trips with plenty of room and power. I know a fair amount about toyotas but not too much specifically about modifying a Runner and that is where I hope this place comes into play.

Help me find a build a Runner. Not in any rush, just want to find one in decent shape for the right price.

Those of you with the manual tranny, what are your thoughts/how do you like the manual? I have only ever spent time in Auto 4runners.

Welcome aboard Alan... Sounds like a 3rd Gen would fit ur needs. As far as manual trans go, both my Toyotas are stick. Then again both my Toyotas are 22REs so it's mandatory. Good luck with the hunt!

Yeah I really like the 3rd Gens and they stopped producing them with manual transmissions after the 3rd Gen, which doesn't make any sense to me.
I would want a 3.4L, I have a 22R in my shop now on a buggy, and have messed with the 22R/E enough to know for DD I want more power.

So 3.4 with manual leaves me to 3rd gen only. I do not need the limited or anything special, I have done a few of the E locker Install/modification to rear housing. I just want one with a clean interior and clean body. I am going to swap bumpers anyway so I do not mind the condition of those.
