New Member - Looking at 4Runners

Hello All!

I am excited to be a part of this great forum now. A little back story: I don't have a 4Runner yet! My wife and I are looking to get one though in the near future. We are looking at anything in the 1992 to 2000 range (second and third gen. I believe). She drove a white '97 limited for a few years as her first car, but it stayed with the family.
This would not be our daily driver, but our mountain machine for hiking/camping in the summer and snowshoeing/skiing in the winter. Neither of us has a car capable of taking us to the trail heads we want anymore (I, a 2004 Mazda 6 Wagon, her, a 2008 VW GTI... clearly not rock crawlers, even though I took the Mazda through a little too hairy of stuff last weekend :whistle:).

Anyway, what I'm curious about a specific one we are looking at. 167k, manual trans, 4wd. The current owner states that it needs a new PS pump and a crank shaft seal (?). I haven't checked it out yet, wondering if its worth the time?

From what I've read/heard, that's an EXTREMELY low price on a manual 4WD 3rd gen - especially in CO. Be cautious...

Indeed, I thought it seemed a bit low (but in my price range), unless the current owner is factoring in the ~$1000 to do both the repairs they claim are needed.
I like that it's a manual (no strawberry milkshake) though.

Seems pretty comprehensive, and makes me want to find a manual more :) Then again, you have to replace the clutch eventually too. (Both my vehicles are manuals though, since I prefer them).
Anything anyone would add to the sticky to look for?
