Put 275k miles "from new" on my '02 and upgraded yesterday to a silver 2016. I saw a 2018 on the dealer floor with blackout emblems with black wheels - and thats the way I want to go. The roof rack is pathetic and I'll be looking to improve that as well (are the factory crossbars worth it?). Also wondering if there is a way to get a lift (to clear tires) without swapping springs and shocks. Let the modding begin!

Welcome, and congrats on the new ride! Heck, the '02 looks clean too. I have an '01 with 265k, and yours is much nicer! Just got a 2019 TRDOR which is an impressive vehicle, so I think you'll be happy with your purchase. Enjoy!

The factory cross bars are useless because they are so bendy and close to the top of the roof. I tried mounting some ski racks to the top of the 4runner and couldn't even get them on due to the lack of clearance, and I put some scratches on the roof as an added insult.

LFD sells better ones for 80 bucks a piece and they are pretty nice.

The factory crossbars are junk, definitely look into some ruggedized ones like LFD or Rago

Congrats on the new 4Runner, always love to see people stay in the 4Runner family, I'm on my third 4Runner

You are looking for a spacer lift

You are looking for a spacer lift

I've ordered the LFD crossrails as well as Daystar 2.5/1.5 and Bilstein 5100 - on the fence on wheel/tire sizing. I'm thinking about doing the lift and alignment - then take measurements with OEM wheels/tires in place then decide...

Nice new rig man. The blackout kits for emblems are pretty affordable. Make sure you get the model specific set. Or better yet, De-badge your SR5s on each side.

I think a lot of people would warn against the spacer lifts, especially up the front. I personally running adjustable bilsteins up front. In the rear I have puck spacers until my budget allows for a better setup. Really improved the ride with the bilsteins and didn't break the bank.

Good Luck.

Nothing wrong with that, I would not go bigger then 285/70 but that's just my preference imho anything more and I would really want gears
