new owner - 137k miles... what next?

Hello fellow 4Runner owners. I just bought my first 4Runner since a friend said that I had to have one.

97 4Runner SR5

It has 137k miles on it and everything seems good. I want to run this thing forever and am looking for advice on what things need to be checked and/or replaced immediately with that mileage?

I appreciate the help and look forward to this new community and all the fun this 4Runner will bring.

^^ everything above is a good idea.

Though IMO dropping the tranny pan, cleaning it out and changing the filter should be enough. Flushing the tranny can be bad if it's done by a monkey(sadly the case at a lot of shops). Unless the tranny is running poorly or already milkshaking it's not really necessary.

Also, dont forget to grease the driveshafts/u-joints/cardan joints.

Can't go wrong with new spark plugs, cleaning the MAF sensor and new air filter if it's dirty.

Really depends if you have the maintenance history. If you don't know when anythings been done, it's definitely gonna be best to do it all. Starting with the fluids.

I don't think I would suggest by-passing the radiator for the first item of maitenance. Unless your towing something or live in a really hot climate. Just make sure you flush your Rad and monitor the health of the Rad and should be good.

Thanks for all of the advice. I definitely have some work to do as I don't have the maintenance records for it.

I have also corrected the lack of pic problem.
