New to 4runners, from Michigan

I did some rustic camping and trail riding in a '21 Rubicon in July of this year. And it was the best camping I've ever done. No electricity, no running water - but we had everything we needed to have a good time for a few days up in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I was hooked.

I had been using a RTT that was mounted over a utility trailer of mine. It was a good set-up for general use, but if I wanted to camp in some really rustic spots, I knew I needed something else, because my Suburban and the trailer couldn't get down some of the best trails.

So, two weeks ago, I scooped up my first 4runner. A 2020 TRD ORP. I recently added a small refrigerator in back and got my tent mounted to the Gobi rack last night. We also lifted the rear another 3/4" to stay more level when loaded down. I'm slowly getting this thing outfitted the way I need it. Heading back up to the U.P in 7 days for it's maiden voyage.:rockon:

Dude that us awesome! I'm also in the High Five State. How did you get your hands on a Pro? Used they are like 70k and I can't order a new one from a dealer. It seems that everyone gets a Gobi rack. Is the stock Pro rack not useful or just not useful for overlanding?

This is actually an Off Road Premium, not a Pro. But it has the pro frontend, skidplate, and black bumper valances.

I found several Pro's for sale for $43k to $56k, shopping 2019-2020 models. i shyed away from the pro only because I planned to replace the suspension anyway and it was tough to justify the price mostly for some aesthetics. But if you're willing to travel 200 miles, there's 100+ Pro's for sale just about anywhere in that distance range.

I'm not a fan of the OEM TRD PRO rack. It's too small and not as versatile as a Gobi or the like.

A couple more pics this this past weekend up in the U.P. of Michigan. We wheeled out to a small cliff on the coast of Lake Superior and set up camp the first night. Hopped around the northern coast for a few days after.
