Newsflash: stock TE great offroad

How much stronger do you think the TC axle shaft is from stock? This is an option I keep going back to and then having some fenders fabed.

It is a modified Tundra Axel. With the 2+ there should be no fender modification that I am aware of. IE fiberglass fenders. Depending on tire size you would ned to modify body mount and fender to fit if I have been following correctly.

Back up in the mountains yesterday in the TE. Another group of Jeeps with me being the lone Toyota.

Day started out icy with the access road to the trailhead being particularly interesting. Multiple rigs sliding downhill and at least one XJ making a slow spin around in its own length. The 4Runner drove right up:boxer:

The trail itself was mostly thawed out, leaving lots of sticky, wet clay. The K02's looked like gumballs but seemed to stick pretty well for an AT.

When I started this thread I knew damn well it had the potential for going off the tracks, but apparently it's really got "legs".

Although I don't think any of this has much to do w/ my original post, I'd like to make a few things clear.

• Anyone not inferring sarcasm on the "Newsflash" part of the thread title needs to go reread with the proper tone
  
  
• I'm well aware that a stock 4Runner (irrespective of model and generation) is not a rock crawler.
  
  
• Never been to/on the Rubicon, but if I ever do, the process will involve my Ram tow rig and then my dedicated trail rig, not my 4R daily driver.
  

In synopsis, the whole post was simply expressing my reconnection with the simple joys of scenic/social trail riding and my thoughts that the TE was a perfect platform to experience that with. Nothing more.

Feel free to laugh at me when a year from now, I've either sold it (moving on to the next "perfect" vehicle), or festooned it with a bunch of heavy expensive stuff that it doesn't need for those ends.:cheers:

Almost 4 years later, the only thing I've added to this truck (beyond almost 100k fun, trouble free miles) is a mild lift and upsized the tires from the 275 K02's to a set of 285's. So much for my predictions!
