Hey people! I live in the ghetto side of indianapolis. My wife just had my son and im am selling my beloved EK civic. Its time for a TOYOTA TRUCK. Im sick and tired of ghetto kids scratching my car, Im tired of when i go to the grocery store getting cut off by a hill billy in his beat up chevy cause he doesnt care if gets an extra dent. Again ITS TIME FOR A 4X4 TRUCK. :uzi:

So here is my question to you guys:
1st- which is better 1st or 2nd gen 4runner?
2nd- how good on gas are 4runners (4 and 6 cylinder models)?
3rd- is a 5 speed best way to go?
4th- what are the common problems fo me to look for, when im looking to buy one?
5th- and last but no least, why is Rick Roll so dreamy? :wink2:

1st- 1st or 2nd gens are pretty much the same mechanically; same frame, suspensions (minus leaf springs or coils in rear) and same engines they are both Toyota pickup based.
2nd- Gas is ok but not the best especially for the 3.0 v6 (could be better but not bad)
3rd- Although most people prefer it, its up to you
4th- blown head gaskets (V6) mainly any fluid leaks
5th- Because he can sing like a 450 lbs black man

Id say do a couple test drives.......

you'll find that most people will prefer the 4banger with a 5spd..... whereas others are the other way....

get behind the wheel and find out for yourself, States will let you search statewide for your runner :D
 
If you just had a baby (I think thats what you meant by "my wife just had my son") then the 2nd gen would be the ideal 4runner for you. The 2nd gen's have 4 doors which will be way more convinient for you to put a car seat in the back. The 1st gen are a lot of fun to drive and the 22re (4cyl) is bulletproof. The V6 which is only available in the 88 and 89 years of the 1st gen and all of the 2nd gen is a decent motor. It doesn't have much power and the gas mileage is not that great. The head gaskets are a major problem and you will want to really research and look into the engine if you are going the v6 option. I average about 200 miles a tank of city and highway driving, but I'm also have 31's and an automatic. A 5 speed will give you better gas mileage and a bit more to work with for the two engines. If you are having a baby remember that a 5 speed will be more work when dealing with a kid in the back.
The v6's power steering pumps will leak so look out for that. Basically it all depends on what you want it for. A 2nd gen is a better family car, but the 1st gen removeable top is a lot of fun. I have owned both and you can't go wrong either way. You could also go with a 3rd gen which have a lot more power, gas economy and no head gasket issues.

alright, thanks guys. one more question, does the 1st gen have less electrical crap, like sensors, modules etc? because personally i will change 100000things for the cel to turn off, and older vehicles often have less electrical problems
