I had this happen with my girlfriends car. She went though a field the week after the oil change with he little 2004 pontiac Grand AM and got a bunch of sh*t stuck under her car and her dad went to lean it out and noticed the filter was the same one he put in.
I recommend writing the date on the filter with a permanent marker or like product. Especially with the 4Runner its in a super easy place to see.
