Oil leak?

I noticed this area of oil near the rear main seal area. I’ve only got 9k on the odometer. If not the seal where else could this be coming from ?

Guarantee not even close to a record. I think in the mileage thread somewhere guys drive 20k + a year.

Exactly. That looks like a dirty spot to me. I see no indication of an active leak there.

For having a leak not for highest mileage in a short amount of time.

Well, that was the question. The dirt is sticking to something other than just the metal.

I’ve already wiped it down. Got a long trip this weekend. Will take another look when I get back.

or possible some assembly oil that was never wiped off that has now collected a little dirt.

spray some brake cleaner on a rag, wipe it off then check it after a week or so. If oil is squeezing by anything, there would be fresh oil collecting fresh dirt in the same spot.

That’s the plan. Will see if anything new shows up in the next 1000 miles when the first oil change is due.
