Paid off...sell it or modify?

Recently i paid off off my T4R. Bought it off of a member over a year ago. 225k miles and runs like a champ. Previous owner maintained it very well. 2x timing belt/water pump changes, oil changes, brakes, etc was all documented. I love it but it's been stock for too long. I've built all my vehicles in the past from 800rwhp Mustang, to street bikes, to lowered trucks and lifted trucks. However, I'm unsure what I would like to do with this one. As it stands, it's a 2005 Sport 4x4 completely stock. I'm currently in need of some tires so i got to thinking. A good lift and tires will be about 3k. It would give it a completely different look and would be upgrading some worn parts. My only concern is the mileage on the vehicle. Would it be wasteful to put this money into the 4runner, or just put the money into another vehicle?

Well you could always visit the Toyota dealers, check out the newest ones and what features they come with. Then note which vehicle, go back at night when its dark and quiet and um, take it for a test drive. :D

All kidding aside, its yours now, I'd keep it.

Gotcha! If the mileage is your only concern go for it. I'm just approaching 200k and wouldn't hesitate to drive cross-country towing my trailer. I'm sure mine's more beat up than yours too. I'm a fan of paid-off trucks and wouldn't think of getting something new or newer if it means payments. Enjoy the cash for some mods and whatever you like to do.

I would keep it and mod it to your liking. While your chances of something major going out does increase with age and mileage, 225k is only about mid-life from what I've seen here and in real life. Besides, there's no guarantee that whatever you buy new or new to you will be reliable either. Even with a warranty it sucks breaking down and getting to know the service dept. I know this because 4 years ago I sold a 2004 z71 with 150k (and paid off) that was very reliable (almost unbelievable right) and replaced it with a brand new F150 ecoboost. Let's just say I knew the service dept. well and by 45k miles I had enough and traded that truck in. That z71 I sold is still going strong with over 225k miles.
