Petroglyphs & 4Runners! E02 12/9/17 Anza-Borrego Badlands!

Hi All

Our next adventure will take place in the Dos Cabezas region of Anza-Borrego. On Saturday 12/9 we will attempt to visit TWO world class pictograph locations:

Carrizo Gorge Cave ( https://starbuck.org/exploring/california/carizzo-gorge-pictographs/ )
This will be about a one hour drive over desert sandy terrain, then 45 min walk (one way)

and Blue Sun Cave ( http://deathvalleyjim.com/the-blue-sun-cave-anza-borrego-state-park/ )
Around a 90 min drive over desert sandy terrain, then an one hour walk (one way)

This is a full agenda; hopefully we have enough sunlight. I broke up the agenda just in case you only have time/energy/desire for one site

These two sites are amazing. We are going to treat them with all the respect they are due.

We will meet on the S-2 at the “Imperial Highway Monument” at 8am:

Wife and I are interested in your plans. We are going to be in the area Fri-Sun so still need to firm up our route. Thank you for offfering up this great opportunity.
 
So I think we are getting our plans sorted. We are going to head out from Ventura County Friday and stay at Stagecoach Trails campground that night. Meet u just down the road at monument Sat am, then tourwith you guys to the petroglyphs. (Are these the ones in Blair Valley?). Then we will either head off to do some trails or make camp and do a couple trails Sun am before heading hm.

You have an idea what the timing would be to see the petroglyphs youre thinking of?
 
I'm interested, I'll see if I can tag along. Any idea when you'll be done? And what the times would be if we decided to just do the first cave or meet up for just the second one?

Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor, not a cruise director

Dude, we’re going to badlands, not Arbys. I have no idea if/when the second cave ride starts. We should get to Carrizo Gorge Cave by 10am. Your guess is as good as mine regarding time.

Ok ok, I was only wondering if you had it properly scheduled but it seems you're going with the more 'winging it' route. It looks like I won't be able to make it anyways though but take some cool pictures for the rest of us!

sorry I went off... long day yesterday.. you're question totally appropriate.. response overly intense...

I anticipate that we will be done with the first cave from 11a to 11:30am... but with all the uncertainties that come along with this kind of adventure, your guess when we start the 2nd leg is unpredictable at best

after all, we have to check out Sean's [MENTION=130595]grapemilk[/MENTION] new keg-mod some time during our outing and have a few freshies along the way!!! :thumb:

If your plans change, let me know... my bad and apologies to you again for going nuclear and being a ...

hopefully we are all at the S-2 rally point at 8am... the trip to cave#1 should take 90 minutes (including driving - airing down - walking)... anticipate about an hour to stay at cave 1 and back on S-2 between 11am to 11:30 am...

Second cave will take about 2 hours to drive/walk to get there off of S-2... but all of this is speculation depending on variables...
