Phoenix Arizona East Valley- test drive request

Hello all,

I was wondering if by chance there were any of you that may live in the Phoenix Arizona East Valley area that are running a KDSS equipped 4runner with the BFG K02 275/70/17 tires on it. If so, would you be willing to take me for a test drive in your vehicle and perhaps even drive mine for comparison purposes? The reason being is I have been trying to figure out a vibration issue on my vehicle that I feel is abnormal and want to determine if it's my truck itself or simply a characteristic of the tires. It does not feel normal to me. It would be nice to try and compare apples to apples and road test a similarly equipped vehicle on the same roads. There would be a beer reward in it for you :beer:

Live in Scottsdale. Had those tires and sold them. Same issue. Went with duratracs. Issues solved

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. Id hate to have buy new tires...again. But the crap ride is really annoying...

I went with the K02s because I wanted the 275 size and there are hardly any options in that size in a non E load rating. Plus they look awesome! Maybe I just need to do my lift and move to a 285. Seems that most 285s are E load rated also so that may result in the same issue I currently have...

Are you running load range E? I have 265/70 in load range C on mine, I though that is the only size that I could get in a C.

I cant tell you that I recently had my tires rotated. After the rotation I had bad vibes now and again in my steering wheel. I ended up going to a different Discount Tire and explaining what was happening. Turns out, one of my rear tires which were now on the front was balanced completely wrong. They rebalanced all 4 tires and it drives nice and smooth again. I never noticed the crappy balance job since it was on the rear, up front, totally noticeable.

I think you should take them back to your shop and let them know what is happening. They should rebalance them and figure out your issue.

I had my 275/70/17 KO2 tires for several years. I switch back and forth between the stock 20's. Other than a little power, mpg lose and slight noise from the KO2's you can not tell which tire is on the 4runner. Both are vibration free even at 85 mph.

Yes they are the E load rating since that's the only range that comes in the 275 size. You may have misunderstood my post but I have personally installed these tires myself since I am a professional technician at an Infiniti dealership. I know the balancing equipment very well since I do this work on a regular basis. Again I have a balanced and checked road force and out of roundness myself at least three times and everything seems like it should be running smooth. This is why I'm frustrated and beginning to think it's my truck and not the tires. The only way to confirm this would be swapping a different set of wheels and tires on to my truck.

Edit- sorry I did not realize that I didn't post the detail that I installed these tires personally at my shop. I think I mentioned that in a different thread. My bad.

I've been running those KO2's for about 20+K so far....no vibration issues.
I be happy to take you for a test drive, but Oregon is a long ways for you to drive to get to it..........

I have no experience with the ko2's, but I had a similar experience with some Cooper tires. I also had 275's in a C load range. Terrible vibration through the wheel and the wheel would shake left and right. None of this was present with the stock tires. A quick education ensued.
First question, deals with the balancing machine. Do you have a centering cone for the back side and a finger balancer for the other side of the rim with a large wing nut shaped clamp? If you don't have those pieces, you are balancing to the lugs and not the hubs. You'll never achieve a good balance without those pieces.
Sounds like you have the Road Force balancer piece handled already.
Im not familiar with Infinity's rim setup. I don't know if they are lug or hub centric. If you have all the hub centric balancing items, you can cross balance issues off your list. Maybe you have a tire or two with shifted belts?
Trying to track down these types of issues is really frustrating. I hope you get it resolved soon.
