Popping noise under acceleration/speed bumps?

Hi all, about 20% of the time my 2000 4Runner with 95k on it is making a popping noise in suspension (can hear/feel it) under acceleration from a stop and when the back wheels come down from a speed bump. Once the rear suspension "bottoms out" from a speed bump I feel a pop/clunk(?) underneath.

Any ideas? I have been told it needs new shocks, struts... just hoping to get some sort of idea on this site so when I go in to the shop I am not taken advantage of. :thumb:

Check your sway bar bushings. Is your tuck all bouncy ?

Drove from LA to Yosemite and back down a couple weeks ago. Going about 80...... when I hit some bumps on the freeway this thing was so dang floaty! bouncing all over the place. I didn't exactly feel unsafe, but definitely needs some work probably.....

I would say check your rear shocks. If they are worn/ blown out they will make the rear unstable/ bouncy.
I had one blow out and made noise over speed bumps from the metal on metal contact

I had the same issue. My p1 4runner would pop badly over speed bumps. Just discovered that the passenger upper lateral control arm bolt that holds the arm to the frame worked it's way loose and has rusted up so can't be snugged back up. Order new Toyota bolt and nut and will replace tomorrow as long as the arm bushings still look good.

Could be blown shocks. Check your shocks and sway bar links and sway bar.

I vote shocks if you're bouncy. Mine were like that before completely blowing out. Now I can't even go 3 over a bump without bouncing for 15 feet afterwards. And they were kinda poppy before I blew them completely. I figured screw it and went off roading to seal the deal lol
